Sunday School teaching volunteers needed

Do you have some time on Sunday mornings during the school year to bring the love of Jesus to our youngest members of our church family? Teens who have been confirmed are welcomed to volunteer. We need teachers for PreK through high school aged.

Please reach out to Kelsey (374-8951, kelseyanneday@gmail.com) or Jamie (374-7839, christianed@orelc.org) if you are thinking about volunteering for this ministry.

Sunday School Registration is now taking place. Register online below or find paper forms in the narthex.

Rally Day is September 12!

Sunday School is for children from age 3 through High School. Confirmation is for 7th and 8th grade. Our education hour is held after Sunday service from 10:45AM until 11:45AM.

Sunday School begins on Rally Sunday, September 12, 2021 with opening at 10:30AM in the sanctuary.  Children will then split into their age appropriate classrooms until 11:45. During that time parents are encouraged to join Pastor for ABC (Adult Bible Class) for an in depth study of our faith, to make it a true education hour for all.  Parents with young children are welcomed and encouraged to join during this time with their young children.

Our Christ-centered curriculum, Growing in Christ, covers the Bible in three years, creating a biblical foundation for lifelong learning.  Growing in Christ follows a same-age classroom model, so students are divided into four classes: Pre-K/Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2, Grades 3 & 4, and Grade 5 & 6 . As they grow in faith alongside their peers, the children explore the Bible, draw connections to the Small Catechism, and learn the traditions of the Lutheran Church.

Our classes are team-taught by adult (and some great, post-Confirmation teens) volunteers who are passionate about teaching our children the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

The Sunday School year runs from September through May, with a less formal Sunday School during the summer and a week of Vacation Bible School (VBS), if available.

Arch Books Available!

The Arch Book series tells popular Bible stories through fun-to-read rhymes and bright illustrations. This well-loved series captures the attention of children, telling the Bible stories in an enjoyable and memorable way.

A new set of Arch Books are available to families.  The Life of Jesus set is available at the Greeter’s booth.  The Book is a gift from the Sunday School and is another beautiful set of 12 classic Arch Books. This set was paid for by a Thrivent grant. Thanks Thrivent!
