Our Redeemer has recognized the same thing that many other churches have recognized, and that is that the model for making youth groups work as they did in the past needs to be improved. New approaches are needed to harness the energy and vitality of our youth in a manner that will absorb them into the congregation, and prepare them for a lifetime of service that uses their individual gifts and talents.
Therefore, our church will strive to have several fun events each year that will be attractive to families, and especially to our youth. Doing so will establish bonds of Christian fellowship between all who participate, young and old alike.
Our goal will be to establish internship programs for our youth that will provide paths for them to learn the workings of the church organization enabling them to see first-hand how the various church groups perform their respective services for the congregation as a whole. The younger folks will work in teams together with our adult population performing tasks geared toward their respective abilities, thereby providing a foundation for learning and understanding until they find comfort and fulfillment in their chosen niche.
By adopting this approach, we hope to eventually reclaim the 19-29 age group that over the course of recent years has all but evaporated.
